12/5/10 The Care Quality Commission who originally said there was NOTHING to investigate at Wrighting Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust in regards to High Unexpected Deaths, have now done a U Turn!
After the Panorama Programme 'Can We Trust the Trust's" and with Professor Sir Brian Jarman saying that WWL NHS FT should be investigated, the CQC have offered to meet with the Families whose loved ones died 'Unexpectedly" at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS FoundationTrust.
25/3/10 Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Hospital Trust is to be investigated along with 24 other NHS Hospital Trusts for their High Unexpected Death Rates. We knew Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Hospital Trust was failing as an NHS Hospital!

Before we start to address the serious issues in regards to our NHS (Nationally and locally), can we please state that this website fully appreciates that Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS FT has many dedicated staff, and without their efforts the situation in regards to high numbers of unexpected deaths would have been far worse.
We dedicate this Website to All the patients who have died "UNEXPECTEDLY" at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust Hospital during and including 2004/05 to present day.
According to official figures (We have the figures) during the above mentioned period some "900 plus" patients died "UNEXPECTEDLY".
According to official figures (we also have these figures) during year 2007/08 alone some "340 plus" patients died "UNEXPECTEDLY"
An "UNEXPECTED" death is basically a death that occures after a "TREATABLE SURVIVABLE" patient enters the trust for treatment and subsequently exits via the morgue.
This website will reveal the difficulties that members of the local public have had in regards to having these appalling death rate figures addressed and "INDEPENDANTLY" investigated by the Care Quality Commission" (CQC), we have Human Rights Solicitors waiting for a final response from the CQC and if they refuse to investigate thouroughly then this incorrect decision will possibly be challenged by Judicial Review.
We will also go into great detail in regards to Mr ANDY BURNHAM (Secretary of State for Health and Constituency MP for our/his/this local hospital trust) input into the serious issues raised in regards to these "shocking" death rate figures.
Wigan Council involvement in these issues raised will also be mentioned, in particular Councilor Ash and Councilor Peat's involvment in the issues raised.

The NHS Complaints procedure, Local Resolution, Stage 1 - Is a whitewashing excercise.
The NHS Complaints Procedure, The Healthcare Ombudsman, Stage 2 - Is a continuation of the whitewash treatment.
These two NHS Complaints Procedure stages are detrimental to future patient safety due to avoidance and non acknowledgment of serious care issues. THE WHOLE NHS COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE (STAGE 1 and STAGE 2) is now being challenged on a Humann Rights front, in particulare Article 2 - Article 2 implies that there must be an "Effective Mechanism for the investigation of contentious deaths", this described mechanism is absent for the investigation of contentious deaths within our NHS. Jack Straws's Justice Ministry is giving our group the run around so to speak on this serious issue. At some stage Mr Straw will have to face the facts and legalise the Whole NHS Complaints Procedure.
